The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1972 as the Mississauga Symphonic Association, an amateur community ensemble. Comprised of a combination of amateur musicians and professional section leaders, the MSO has earned the reputation as the best hybrid orchestra in Canada. The MSO was looking to reinvigorate their brand, still appealing to their existing patrons while also presenting a fresh image that appealed to young adults as well. Chargefield was brought on to visually re-brand the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra from the ground up, starting with a new logo and branding package, as well as all-new print materials and website to keep visual branding consistency strong across all mediums.
Coldharbour Recordings is a Miami-based electronic dance music label founded and owned by trance DJ and producer Markus Schulz in 2005. The label was formerly a sublabel of Armada Music until Schulz took the label independent in 2013. To mark the occassion, Chargefield was brought in to refresh the logo. After the successful rebrand, Chargefield has since created visual branding for artists on the label, sub brands of the label, as well as print design and motion graphics.
Designed for Subtext. O’Doughs is a bakery with a simple philosophy: to produce gluten-free products that didn’t taste gluten-free. Their target market was largely baby boomers, and other individuals with celiac disease or gluten allergies who were accustomed to gluten-free products being bland and dry; so the image of O’Doughs needed to be seen as a step in a new direction.
Master Key is a company unique in that it both executes VFX for popular television shows such as Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, Justified, Suits and Covert Affairs, as well as shoots scenes for them in international locations. Chargefield helped facilitate Mash Paddle’s launch by designing packaging for the brewery as well as the website and items such as posters, table tents, tap handles and coasters to help promote Mash Paddle’s presence in local pubs.

While your logo is not your brand, it is the visual representation of your brand) and a very important aspect of your brand identity. In one graphic it aims to encapsulate your brand's position in the market place, value, trust, uniqueness, quality and more in the milliseconds it takes viewers to make a judgement. As such, designing your logo is one of the most important parts of the design process when establishing a new company - or rebranding one. As such, we thought we would share what goes into every logo design Chargefield completes, read on for the breakdown.

Our filmmaker friends Justin Giddings and Ryan Welsh’s amazing short film This Is Normal about being deaf, being hearing, and the complications in-between, is now playing on Vimeo after an impressive run in the festival circuit. Even more impressive is the fact that this is the duo’s first foray behind the camera – meeting as actors on the set of Bite Me (where we had the pleasure of working with them on VFX). View the film and the poster Chargefield designed after the jump.
Here's a selection of hand-drawn custom lettering pieces created by Chargefield. We render our type by hand, and then bring it into software such as Photoshop to clean up, or Illustrator to create vector pieces that can be scaled to any size. Custom lettering, or hand drawn typography, gives a unique look to many projects, whether it be the actual design of a logo, titles for editorial design, or a way of adding visual flourishes to an otherwise dry text-heavy piece of print design.
We recently had the pleasure of creating some 3D composited titles for director Bailey Kobe at Double Entente Films on this awesome big rig gymkhana video, starring legendary stunt driver Mike Ryan. We recently rebranded Markus Schulz's electronic dance music label, Coldharbour Recordings. Named after Coldharbour Lane, a road in South London where Schulz's first studio was located, the logo is a nod to British street signage. We recently created a an animated logo sequence for Yousef Abu-Taleb's film production company, Youabu. With roots in Jordan, and being amazed by his visit to the ruins of the ancient city of Petra, Yousef wanted a logo sequence that reflected that same sense of old world wonder. Inspiration for the logo was drawn from steamer trunk stickers and turn of the century ads for exotic destinations. The logo sequence flies through a digital rendering of the treasury at Petra, allowing the viewer to experience the same sense of wonderment as Yousef. See the logo sequence after the jump!
